West Dean College
I am a visiting lecturer at West Dean College for the one day course, Preserving Historic Photographs, held at the British Library. This course aims to provide attendees with increased confidence in identifying photographic materials, understanding deterioration mechanisms and making informed preservation decisions.
Equivalent Experience
I co-developed and taught on Equivalent Experience, a six-month, bursary supported traineeship which was designed to foster emerging conservation professionals and safeguard expertise in the preservation of photographic heritage.
The traineeship integrated theoretical instruction with practical application. Studio-based lessons covered conservation ethics, chemistry, documentation, and identification, while practical sessions developed skills in cleaning, repair, and glass stabilisation. Educational visits and placements further exposed participants to professional environments.
The programme’s aim was to establish a strong foundation in photographic conservation, preparing participants for further training and career progression.
